A new brochure is now available for PCC’s Railcar Unloading Systems. The brochure provides process flow diagrams to show single and dual blower systems, and it also gives an overview of the machines used for railcar unloading.
Process Control provides complete turnkey railcar unloading systems, using a single or dual blower system, depending on conveying length and rate. PCC railcar unloading systems include pneumatic conveying equipment, tubing and hardware, controls, silos, silo accessories, and installation.

Process Control has released new literature for the EMV Variable Speed Drive. Click here to download!
The EMV variable speed drive for our VF Series Vacuum Pump has the ability to slow down or speed up the pump to match the conveying requirements for each vacuum receiver station. By controlling the speed, not only does the drive allow the user to save energy, but it helps keep the material undamaged during the conveying process.
VF Series Vacuum Pump with variable speed drive at our Atlanta, GA showroom
The vacuum system in Process Control’s showroom [Atlanta, GA] has recently been upgraded with a 10HP VF Series Vacuum Pump fitted with a variable speed drive. The drive has the ability to slow down or speed up the pump to match the conveying requirements for each vacuum receiver station. By controlling the speed, not only does the drive allow the user to save energy, but it helps keep the material undamaged during the conveying process. The pump can also be slowed down during idle time to further save energy. The conveying speeds are easily controlled through PCC’s Director Sequencing panel [as seen in the images below].

The next product spotlight from PCC will be a special two part blog on our line of Vacuum Receivers for material handling. Today’s entry will focus on proper receiver sizing and how it affects the blending system.
PCC manufactures a complete line of vacuum receivers for use in pneumatic conveying of plastic material. The RN Series is designed for plastic pellets and the RP Series for dusty materials like plastic regrind. When coupled with a vacuum pump and sequencing panel, vacuum receivers can provide automatic loading of blenders with multiple hoppers, surge hoppers, storage bins or other devices. Since a typical conveying system includes multiple receivers, for the system to operate efficiently, the receivers must be properly sized.

Properly sized receivers are even more critical in the case of continuous, loss in weight gravimetric blenders where the blender hoppers are sitting on load cells. In normal operation, the blender monitors the weight of the material in each hopper and adjusts the material feed rate accordingly to provide an accurate blend of material. When the receiver provides a dump of material to the hopper this can disturb the weight monitoring process. To compensate, the blender senses this disturbance and goes into coast mode temporarily. A properly sized receiver will provide a dump size that fills the hopper completely, without over filling, and minimizes these periods of disturbance providing increased accuracy. Over filling, caused by an over sized vacuum receiver, also disturbs the weighing process since the material backs up in the receiver and continues to drain into the hopper as material is removed.

Check back this Thursday for Part 2 on our Vacuum Receiver Spotlight, where we will discuss the various options available for PCC vacuum receivers.
PCC has released and updated spec sheet for our RN Series Vacuum Pellet Receiver. The new literature details the features of the RN Series, including dimensional drawings for flapper, swing-gate, and knife-gate discharge valve models, standard features, optional features, and schematic diagrams for typical loading systems.
The RN Series Vacuum Receiver is part of a complete vacuum conveying system for in-plant distribution or machine/blender loading. When coupled with a vacuum pump and sequencing panel, the RN Series provides automatic loading of pellet materials.
Process Control has recently shipped a 9 Element Continuous Gravimetric Blending System including 4 Regrind Hopper Feeders (2 equipped with bridge breakers), 3 Powder Feeders and 2 Pellet Feeder Elements. The system uses state of the art, non-proprietary Touch Screen Controls, Brushless Motors and Drives. Rounding out this unique blending solution is the PCC Material Handling System which includes a Vacuum Pump, Dust Collector, Standard Powder Receivers for Dusty Regrind, and Special Powder Receiver with 70 Degree Cone and 5” Flapper Discharge.
A PCC competitor recently introduced a new pull-out pellet screen for their line of vacuum receivers. Process Control has been offering this for over ten years as a standard feature on our RN line of vacuum receivers. The screen design is simple slide-out with two side latches and no tools needed for change-out. Pellet screens are available in four different meshes, with a 6″ or 12″ diameter screen size.
